The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) will publish the full calendar of upcoming student olympiads once it receives it from the Natural Sciences Olympic Teams Association and the Ministry of Education and Science, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev announced at the launch of the campaign “Take Part! The Olympiad is for Everyone!” held at BTA’s National Press Club in Sofia.

The campaign, organized by the Association of Olympic Teams and the regional education departments, aims to encourage greater participation of students, teachers and school principals in municipal rounds of olympiads. BTA is the main media partner of the initiative.

Education and Science Minister Krasimir Valchev, Valkan Goranov, Executive Director of the Natural Sciences Olympic Teams Association, and his Deputy Elena Marinova, also took part in the presentation at the BTA National Press Club.

At the event, initiatives were presented that aim to raise awareness among parents, whose support is crucial for the first steps of students in olympiad participation.

BTA Director General Valchev said that BTA will provide timely information on registration deadlines and will report during the olympiads on participation numbers and topics in each region, giving greater visibility to young competitors and winners. He stressed that attention should also be given not only to final medalists but also to children advancing from the first to the second round.

He recalled that BTA and the Association signed a permanent partnership agreement in January 2025, under which BTA regularly publishes materials provided by the association. BTA’s extensive network of 33 national press clubs and correspondents across the country will support the campaign.

According to the association, Bulgarian students have already won 89 medals in 2025: 8 gold, 14 silver and 17 bronze at major international olympiads, and 6 gold, 20 silver and 19 bronze at European, Balkan and youth competitions.

At the event, Valchev presented participants with issues of BTA’s LIK magazine marking the 155th anniversary of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the 60th anniversary of LIK itself.
