Seven gold medals were awarded in the 9th European Junior Olympiad in Informatics, held in the northeastern Bulgarian town of Shumen from August 29 to September 4.
The gold medallists are Artur Smolenski of Poland, who earned the highest score of 566.19 points, Vladyslav Khalin of Ukraine (519.65), Krzysztof Witkowski of Poland (508.20), Roman Sadovnikov of Ukraine (501.80), Vladimir Grchev of North Macedonia (446.50), Andrii Kuzma of Ukraine (441.99) and Vladyslav Vynnyk of Ukraine (436.97).
Bulgaria, which was represented by two national teams at the event, won five medals: two silver and three bronze.
The Olympiad involved 95 contestants (including 12 unofficial) from 24 countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, France, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Moldova, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Turkiye, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and Bulgaria.
The 9th European Junior Olympiad in Informatics was organized by Bulgaria’s Ministry of Education and Science, the “European Junior Olympiad in Informatics” Association and Shumen Town Hall in partnership with the country’s Association of Olympic Science Teams and Shumen’s A&B School, Sava Dobroplodni High School and Nancho Popovich School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
