The government on Tuesday approved a two-year overlapping work plan for the period July 1, 2025, to December 31, 2027, for cooperation between Bulgaria and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The document is in implementation of the partnership programme with UNICEF.

The measures and activities in the plan are aimed at strengthening support for early childhood development and child protection, reducing poverty, promoting social inclusion, and monitoring children's rights. Focus is also placed on strengthening the education system at national and local level to expand access to inclusive and quality education and build skills for all children, including those most disadvantaged. Activities are also planned to guarantee every child's right to live in a safe and supportive family environment, to promote child participation in decision-making to improve policies for children, and to prevent violence against children and protect victims.

The implementation of the two-year work plan aims to support Bulgaria's efforts to guarantee the rights and wellbeing of children, including those in disadvantaged and vulnerable situations, so that they can develop their full potential in an inclusive and protective society.
