Velichie will begin consultations with other parties to approach the Constitutional Court on the legality of the government’s parliamentary majority and eventually annul decisions of the Council of Ministers, Velichie leader Ivelin Mihaylov told journalists in the National Assembly on Thursday.
He said that Velichie checked how many of the MPs who were declared illegally elected by the Constitutional Court had participated in the vote for prime minister and for the Council of Ministers. It turned out that eight such MPs took part in the vote.
"If these eight MPs' votes are not counted in the election of the Council of Ministers and the prime minister, it becomes clear that the majority required for this government to be elected was unavailable, which renders all its decisions since January 16, 2025, illegitimate,” Mihaylov added.
He pointed out that Velichie will start consultations with other parties to refer the matter to the Constitutional Court and annul the Council of Ministers’ decisions.
Mihaylov also commented on the China visit of BSP leader Atanas Zafirov, who is also Deputy Prime Minister. According to Mihaylov, the structure of governance in Bulgaria functions as follows: “GERB owns two parties – Vazrazhdane and Yes, Bulgaria! with Vazrazhdane directly communicating with Russia, as they are connected to United Russia, while Yes, Bulgaria! communicates with the Democrats in the United States. Delyan Peevski and the MRF own the BSP, which communicates with China, and There Is Such a People, which communicates with the British Embassy.”
Mihaylov argued that Zafirov was officially sent to China by "the government of Delyan Peevski and Boyko Borissov", and all these actions being taken now are meant to distract from this fact.
He believes that Yes, Bulgaria! is fully aware of the current government’s ties with Russian and Chinese agencies. Mihaylov suggested that the aim is to prepare for a potential future shift, so that, if it happens, this government can easily transition from being pro-European to pro-Russian and pro-Chinese.
