site.btaUPDATED Socialists Call for Productive Parliamentary Session, Warn Against Political Blockades

At the opening of the autumn session of Parliament, Dragomir Stoynev, floor leader of BSP – United Left, called on MPs to focus on work, not political obstruction. "Let this session be marked by work, not by blockades," he urged.
Stoynev emphasized that parliamentary democracy is at its strongest when it restores public trust and brings institutions closer to the people. "In politics, it should not be party expediency that guides us, but the public interest," he said. He criticized recent no-confidence votes as "pointless," saying they had failed to provide solutions and only disrupted the legislature’s work. "Today the majority and the responsible government are showing that there is a different path: of dialogue, cooperation and solutions," he added.
As part of the ruling coalition, Stoynev reaffirmed BSP’s commitment to social justice and citizen protection. “It is time to return to the principles of parliamentary democracy, the rule of law, and clear standards of governance,” he concluded.
“We are opening the new parliamentary session amid serious political, social, and economic challenges,” said BSP for United Left parliamentary group chair Dragomir Stoynev. “What we achieved after years of stagnation is a functioning government and stable majority, but resolving the political crisis is just one phase. The next must be a return to the rules — of parliamentary democracy, of law, of good governance and real reform.”
He warned that the growing gap between citizens and institutions must be addressed through “clear rules, transparency, accountability, and policies people can actually feel in daily life.”
Stoynev noted that Bulgaria faces global pressures — from economic and climate crises to international tensions — and must assert itself as a nation that protects its interests while contributing to a “more secure, just, and united Europe.” This, he said, requires “wisdom, diplomacy, and parliamentary sensitivity to international dynamics.”
At home, inflation, water shortages, and pressure on small businesses require focused policy, not party calculations. “The ruling majority must put the public interest, economic stability, and consumer protection first,” he said.
