"As far as Vazrazhdane is concerned, the most logical thing at this point is for Parliament to be dissolved, for the Government to resign, and for early elections to go ahead," the party's leader Kostadin Kostadinov told journalists here on Tuesday.
Approached for comment on the Cabinet's intention to nominate Miroslav Rashkov for secretary general of the Interior Ministry, Kostadinov said: "Now that President Rumen Radev has consented to this nomination, it became clear that the notorious institutional gridlock has already been overcome." He added that the position of the head of State has evolved over the last couple of months, from strong confrontation and denial of approval to a tacit approval of that nomination. The price is the appointment of General Emil Tonev as Chief of the National Service for Protection for one more term," the Vazrazhdane leader pointed out.
He argued that the incumbent Government is illegitimate because it was elected by an illegitimate Parliament. "The elections were partially annulled, some MPs were diselected and new ones were declared elected, which calls into question the legitimacy of this legislature as a whole," Kostadinov commented. In his opinion, the President should not recognize this Government and should not work for its legitimation.
