“We are showing that Bulgaria is successfully protecting the borders of the European Union,” said Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova during a news briefing at the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing, after nearly 206 kg of cocaine, worth over BGN 37 million, were intercepted.

This is the largest quantity of cocaine ever seized by the Customs Agency at a land border, Petkova said. She explained that the record amount was intercepted on July 18 during a joint operation between the Customs Agency and the Ministry of the Interior.

“The result of this joint operation proves that when institutions work together and when there is excellent coordination, the results are good,” said Petkova./MORE
