Customs officers seized nearly 1.5 million contraband cigarettes with a market value of over BGN 500,000 during an inspection of a truck entering Bulgaria from Turkiye through the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint, said the regional press centre of the Customs Agency in Svilengrad on Tuesday. During the inspection of the truck, driven by a Turkish citizen, customs officers found the nearly 75,000 cigarette boxes in 150 transported metal boxes in the truck.
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated into the case.
