Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev met with his Czech counterpart Jan Lipavsky within the framework of the 20th edition of the GLOBSEC Forum in Prague, the Foreign Ministry said.
Joining the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is a top priority in the foreign policy of the Bulgarian government, Goeorgiev told Lipavsky, adding the Bulgaria counts on the strong support of Czechia and other EU member states in the OECD for joining the organization.
Minister Lipavsky stated that his country supports Bulgaria's candidacy for the OECD. Among the topics of conversation were EU enlargement, deepening bilateral relations in various areas of mutual interest, including economy, education, science, as well as the defence sector.
The two ministers also discussed the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, with Bulgaria reaffirming its support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine and its sovereignty. “Bulgaria stands with Ukraine, the EU and our international partners, including the United States, in their calls for a full and unconditional 30-day ceasefire,” said Georgiev.
Bulgaria consistently supports Montenegro’s European perspective and acknowledges the progress made by the country since the formation of the current government in October 2023, Minister Georgiev told his Montenegrin counterpart Maida Gorcevic during the forum.
