site.btaPublic Financial Inspection Agency's 2024 Report Adopted


The government has accepted the 2024 performance reported of the Public Financial Inspection Agency (PFIA), the Government Information Service reported on Wednesday. In the past year, PFIA authorities completed 614 financial inspections and audits related to the expenditure of public funds.
A total of 605 alerts and requests for financial inspections were received. Of these, 563 were alerts and requests that fell within the PFIA's remit and 42 of them were referred to other government bodies. Some 60% of all alerts came from individuals and legal entities. Another 30% came from the Minister of Finance and the prosecution service, which resulted in 329 inspected sites. A total of 102 sites or 10% were inspected after alerts from the Bulgarian National Audit Office (BNAO) and the Public Procurement Agency.
The funds found to have been misspent totalled BGN 5,511,584, of which BGN 687,251 were recovered by the end of the financial inspections.
A total of 2,165 public procurement contracts were audited, in which funds totalling BGN 2,822,793,964 were spent. In 519 of them, with a total value of BGN 613,452,823, irregularities were established.
