Continue the Change (CC) Co-Chair Kiril Petkov wrote in a Facebook post on Friday that Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev is an honest mayor, has no dependencies and thinks only of the good of the city. The post comes after on Tuesday, Save Sofia Chair Boris Bonev told a news conference that his political formation is leaving the three-party coalition with Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) in the Sofia City Council and has withdrawn its support from Terziev.

Petkov reported that the Mayor faces an "economic majority" in the Municipal Council that systematically votes down his initiatives. The CC Chair added: "Yes, it is his [Terziev's] responsibility to ensure support for the important decisions for the city, but when the economic interests of GERB, TISP (There Is Such a People), and BSP (Bulgarian Socialist Parry), and not the concern for the citizens of Sofia, is this majority's priority, the task is often next to impossible."

Petkov said that while Save Sofia were disappointed with the level of communication and with some of the Mayor's team, that conflict should not have grown into a split, because "the entire democratic community loses, if we do not work together for the successful governance of Sofia."

Petkov shared that despite Save Sofia choosing to exit the coalition, he still believes that they would still back important decisions that would benefit the city.
