Minister Zapryanov Takes Part in NATO-Ukraine Council Meeting at Allied Defence Ministers Level

Bulgaria’s caretaker Minister of Defence Atanas Zapryanov took part in an extraordinary virtual meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council at the level of Allied Defence Ministers on Friday, the press centre of Zapraynov’s Ministry said. The meeting was chaired by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Allied Defence Ministers and President Zelenskyy discussed the latest developments in the war in Ukraine and addressed the country's current and future needs. The discussion also covered the need for continued long-term political, practical, and military-technical support to Ukraine. The NATO Secretary General praised the assistance provided by the Allies. The NATO Defence Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Ukraine's defence, sharing the belief that this is in the interest of their own security.

In his statement, Zapryanov highlighted Bulgaria's firm support for Ukraine, noting that Bulgaria will continue to provide assistance to the country within its capabilities.
