site.btaTrade Union President Urges MPs to Adopt Regular Budget in Its Updated, Adjusted Form
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Plamen Dimitrov, President of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions of Bulgaria (CITUB), said that "CITUB and all our federations are calling on MPs to approve the regular budget, which has been updated and adjusted." He made the remarks at a news conference presenting the price monitoring data for the small consumer basket for November 2025.
"I appeal to the common sense of everyone in the current Parliament. The submitted budget should be adopted in the form in which it was submitted, or if there are any objections and serious disagreements, adjustments must be made. There are still a few parliamentary days left. There is no obstacle to convening an extraordinary sitting between Christmas and New Year," Dimitrov added.
Dimitrov said that "VAT revenues could be cut by 1.5 billion, and the nationally funded capital programme could be reduced by EUR 1.5 billion." "These changes can be approved very quickly by the budget committee," the CITUB President added.
"The protest achieved its moral objective. The government has fallen and we are heading toward elections. This should not be confused with the budget, which must continue to finance the systems for the next six months,” Dimitrov said.
