The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and journalists from the media were awarded by the leadership of the Technical University of Sofia here on Wednesday for covering the 80th anniversary of the institution in 2024, as well as other significant initiatives, academic events, scientific conferences, and social campaigns of the university.
BTA received an honorary plaque from Prof. Georgi Venkov, Rector of the Technical University, who presented it to Evgenia Drumeva, BTA Deputy Director General. The award is for BTA's significant contribution to promoting the activities of the university.
Drumeva noted that in June last year, BTA and the Technical University of Sofia signed a partnership agreement. As a result, last year BTA had 415 publications in Bulgarian related to the Technical University, which grew to 640 in 2025. She added: "It is also important that more and more foreign students are showing interest in higher education in Bulgaria, and our English service focuses on universities. Last year, BTA had 83 publications about the Technical University in English, and this year there are 94 already."
BTA staff who were recognized personally by the university were Dimitrina Vetova, Ani Mihaylova, and Velina Vasileva. The university also presented awards to other media and journalists.
