site.btaDanube Water Levels Continue to Fall, Draught Restrictions Remain

Danube water levels continued to fall slightly over the past 24 hours, the Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River said on Saturday.

Water levels fell by between 1 and 6 centimetres across the Bulgarian stretch of the river. The largest fall was at Silistra, where the level stood at 116 cm below gauge zero. Readings at the other stations were also below gauge zero: 84 cm at Novo Selo, 44 cm at Vidin, 35 cm at Lom, 113 cm at Oryahovo, 23 cm at Nikopol, 71 cm at Svishtov and 123 cm at Ruse.

There had been no new groundings in or outside the navigation channel over the past 24 hours, the River Supervision Directorate said.

All draught restrictions remain in force throughout the Bulgarian stretch of the Danube.

Hydrological conditions remain difficult.

On Friday, the agency also said Danube water levels were continuing to fall and draught restrictions remained in force.
