Thirty-five people, two among them children, including a five-month-old baby, were injured in a missile attack on Odesa on Saturday morning, Odesa Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Kiper said on Telegram.

Seven of the injured, including the baby, had been admitted to hospital, Kiper said.

"The strike has completely destroyed the upper floors of a multi-storey residential building. The blast wave has also damaged neighbouring residential buildings and a low-pressure gas pipeline," Kiper said.

Kiper also described damage to three more residential buildings and a gas pipeline. One of those buildings was completely destroyed.

All relevant services are dealing with the aftermath of the missile attack. Two people are missing, with search and rescue efforts still underway.

Odesa City Military Administration Head Serhiy Lysak had earlier said at least four or five floors of the multi-storey residential building had been destroyed.

A command centre has been set up at the strike site.

The missile and drone attack on Odesa and Odesa Region began on Saturday morning and was still under way at the time of the earlier report.

Ukraine's latest official census counted more than 150,000 Bulgarians in Odesa Region, making them its third-largest ethnic group. Around 50,000 to 60,000 Bulgarians live in Odesa itself. The largest concentrations of Bulgarians are in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
