The Bulgarian Orthodox Church (BOC) presented a donation to the Children's ENT Department at University Hospital Tsaritsa Yoanna-ISUL here on Wednesday.
The donation was handed over by Patriarch Daniil and Metropolitan Gavriil of Lovech, head of the BOC’s Cultural and Educational Department. A ceremonial water blessing was conducted for the hospital staff and patients.
The donation, totaling BGN 20,000, was raised through the Holy Synod’s campaign “Children Draw for Children,” in which children from across Bulgaria contributed artworks that were later purchased by supporters. The funds will be used to equip the department, including the purchase of additional beds, aimed at improving conditions for hospitalized children.
"Doctors have a noble profession. They are God’s workers, caring for the great gifts of health and life, said Bulgarian PatriarchDoctors have a noble profession. They are God’s workers, caring for the great gifts of health and life," said the Bulgarian Patriarch.
The Hospital's Executive Director Lyubomir Penev attended the ceremony and thanked the Holy Synod for its support. “With the donated amount, we fully cover the necessary funds for purchasing additional beds for the department. I hope the children will truly feel the improved conditions in the hospital.”
