The I Want a Baby Foundation (IWBF) celebrated its 16th anniversary on March 25, which is the Feast of the Annunciation in the Christian calendar. It was the second day of a two-day IWBF forum in Kyustendil, which began with a prayer service for good health, fertility and well-being. Coordinators, supporters and volunteers of the assisted reproduction movement from all over Bulgaria took part in the event.
Kyustendil was chosen as the venue because it has a longstanding tradition in treating male and female infertility thanks to its unique mineral water, the organizers said.
Vicar Isak of the Kyustendil Parish officiated at a blessing of the waters, assisted by priests from three local churches. The ritual was attended by the town Mayor, Petar Paunov, and Milen Mitev, Director General of Bulgarian National Radio, which is a partner to the IWBF along with BTA.
Saturday's proceedings of the seminar involved discussions with specialists, among them Bulgarian author Rozmari De Meo and Bulgarian Memory Foundation Founding President Milen Vrabevski.
The Nature for Life Campaign, aimed to promote reproductive health, was launched in Kyustendil on February 17. It highlights balneo therapy, climate anxiety therapy and healthy food for couples with reproductive problems.
Nature for Life lays particular emphasis on the gifts of nature, healthy living and psychological techniques in support of couples with reproductive problems. The healing properties of mineral water in Kyustendil, which have been known since ancient times, are a powerful ally in people's struggle to have a baby. The advantages of local weather and nature, combined with a healthy diet and a sustainable mindset, complement the medical solutions.
The infertility treatment tradition in Kyustendil Municipality is in line with the IWBF's mission and its focus on preventive treatment and follow-up care for the reproductive health of Bulgarians, the organizers said.
