Protesters against proposed Election Code amendments which reinstate the paper ballot briefly blocked traffic in front of the National Assembly building on Tuesday evening. Their stance is that a potential return of this method of voting will bring back the controlled vote and the substantial number of invalid ballots.

The protesters chanted, "Out with the mafia". Their demands include a fair way to cast votes, which will then be counted with no manipulations.

The protest was organized by the Justice for All initiative.

Continue the Change co-chair Kiril Petkov commented that GERB and the Bulgarian Socialist Party are determined to push through the paper ballot. "They know right now that new elections are imminent, and what they want is for the next elections to be done the old way […], with paper fraud," Petkov stated.

The second reading debate on the bill to amend the Electoral Code lasted for more than 11 hours on November 25.
