Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov published information on his Facebook profile to assist Bulgarians in the Middle East region. The Council of Ministers published the same information in a press release earlier on Sunday.

"I know that many Bulgarians in the Middle East are currently at the epicentre of the attacks and are going through extremely tense hours. That is why I am sharing this information. If you or a relative need assistance, you can contact at any time the Situation Centre of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria. The phone lines operate 24/7: +359 2 948 24 04; +359 2 971 38 56; +359 893 339 616; email: crisis@mfa.bg; fax: +359 2 870 71 37," Gurov wrote.

The caretaker prime minister added that Bulgarian citizens may also seek assistance directly from the nearest Bulgarian diplomatic mission.

He also reminded that if there is no Bulgarian consular representation in the country where they are located, Bulgarian nationals have the right to request assistance from the consular services of another EU member state.

"That is your right as European citizens," Gurov noted.

He further advised Bulgarians in the region to consider registering in the Travel Advice section on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria.

"It takes only a few minutes, but it may be very helpful if contact with you is needed. Please share this information so it reaches more people. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones. You are not alone," Gurov wrote.
