Bulgaria's Ministry of Tourism is in constant contact with tour operators in the Middle East region, as well as with Bulgarian diplomatic and consular missions on the ground, the Ministry said in a press release on Sunday.

Information on organized tourist groups and individual travel is being updated. Tour operators are providing data on the number of travellers and the measures they have taken to ensure the safety of Bulgarian citizens.

The Ministry is working in close coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and the crisis task force established within it. An action plan is in place, and authorities are waiting for an appropriate and safe moment to arrange movement, as the current assessment by the competent institutions is that remaining in secure locations is safer than travelling by air or land routes.

"Bulgarian citizens have not been forgotten - their safety is a top priority," the Ministry said.

Earlier in the day, the caretaker Cabinet issued a statement with information for Bulgarians in the Middle East, who need assistance.
