site.btaDefence Committee Chair Gadzhev: Parliament Should Be Invited to Security Council in Such Situations
In similar situations in the past, representatives of Parliament have been invited to meetings of the Security Council, GERB-UDF MP and Chair of the parliamentary defence committee Hristo Gadzhev said on Facebook on Saturday.
"The escalation of the conflict between Iran, Israel and the US is now a fact, and [caretaker Prime Minister Andrey] Gurov once again does not know what, how and why he is doing. He has decided to convene the Security Council under the Council of Ministers. So far, especially under a caretaker government and especially in a similar situation, representatives of the National Assembly have always been invited. At the very least, the Parliament Chair," Gadzhev wrote.
He added that no such invitation had been extended for the Security Council convened on Saturday at 1 p.m.
"For the third consecutive day, Gurov has overstepped and bypassed Parliament. He avoided the hearing on the aircraft, avoided parliamentary question time, and today he is hiding again," the MP commented.
"Precisely on the issue of a military operation against Iran and the subsequent response, there must be flawless and accurate communication between institutions. With his actions today, Gurov is only increasing fears in society. And he himself became an MP from Continue the Change under the slogan 'to restore parliamentarism'," Gadzhev added.
