Parliament will discuss at second reading amendments to the Election Code to reduce the number of polling stations in non-European Union countries. This is the first item on the agenda of the National Assembly for Thursday’s plenary sitting.
The amendments, tabled by the Vazrazhdane party, provide for a limit of 20 polling stations outside diplomatic and consular missions in non-EU member countries. Last week, the amendments were adopted at first reading in the plenary hall, and on Tuesday they were considered by the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee at second reading.
Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria coalition proposed that the number of polling stations be limited to 100, but their request was not supported by the Legal Affairs Committee.
GERB-UDF’s proposal to postpone the introduction of an overseas multi-mandate constituency for January 1, 2028, was accepted.
The parliamentary agenda includes the second reading of amendments to the Cybersecurity Act and the Trademarks and Geographical Indications Act. MPs are also expected to consider a bill ratifying the Multilateral Competent Authority Agreement on Automatic Exchange of Crypto Assets Information and the Supplement to the Multilateral Competent Authority Agreement on the Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information.
