The number of fatalities in road traffic accidents since the beginning of the year is down by 22 from the same period of 2024, Lachezar Bliznakov from the Road Traffic Administration said here on Friday. He added that the number of people injured in serious traffic accidents since the beginning of 2025 is by 10% lower than in the like period of 2024.

Bliznakov also said that since January, there have been 150 cases of violations related to driving under the influence. 

Miroslav Tsenov, Director of the Situation Centre and Traffic Management, said that violations have decreased ten-fold since sensors were installed to detect overloaded trucks. Tsenov added that if a truck passes through the national road network illegally, the Ministry of Interior authorities will stop it or it will be detected by cameras installed along the road network.
