Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has spoken over the phone with the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, local news media reported Saturday.

During the talks, the sides discussed the latest developments in Iran and the wider Middle East region, as well as the security situation, the report said.

Earlier on Saturday the Foreign Ministry in Athens said that Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis is in constant contact with his counterparts from allied countries regarding the events.

Greece’s Government Council for National Security - the country’s highest body on foreign policy and defense matters - convened Saturday evening for an emergency meeting following the latest developments in the Middle East, Kathimerini.gr reported.
