site.btaDaniela Taleva's Term as Ad Hoc Prosecutor Investigating Prosecutor General Expires on December 7, 2025
Daniela Taleva will no longer be an ad hoc prosecutor investigating the prosecutor general as from December 7, 2025 because her two-year term will expire on that date, the Prosecutors Chamber of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) decided on Wednesday. The decision was approved by a unanimous vote of all seven members of the Chamber.
After December 7, Taleva will resume her previous position as judge at the Sofia City Court. She will have to be succeeded as ad hoc prosecutor by another judge, to be elected on a random basis.
On October 18, 2023, the SJC voted, 6-0, to elect Taleva as an ad hoc prosecutor investigating the prosecutor general and the deputy prosecutors general. Her name was drawn by lots from among 22 judges approved under a new procedure introduced by amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code and the Judicial System Act. She was the first magistrate to hold this office under constitutional amendments instituting the position. Taleva took office on December 7, 2023.
