One person was killed in a missile attack on Odesa, Ukraine on Friday afternoon. "I extend my condolences to the family of the victim," Serhii Lysak, head of the Odesa City Military Administration, said on his Telegram channel.

"The aggressor continues to terrorize the civilian population," Lysak stressed.

All relevant emergency services are working to deal with the aftermath of the attack.

Two missiles launched from the Black Sea struck the port city at around 2:00 p.m. local (and Bulgarian) time, according to local Telegram channels.

Bulgarians in the Odesa region number more than 150,000 and were the third largest population group in Ukraine in 2001, according to the official census. About 50,000 - 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
