Bulgarian Ambassador to Serbia Doykov Discusses Protection of Bulgarian Minority’s Rights with Serbian President Vucic

Bulgarian Ambassador to Serbia Petko Doykov discussed the protection of the rights and interests of the Bulgarian national minority in Serbia with President Aleksandar Vucic during a farewell meeting ahead of his departure from the country, the Bulgarian Embassy in Belgrade told BTA.

During the meeting, Doykov emphasized the importance that Bulgaria attaches to safeguarding the rights and interests of the Bulgarian national minority, including ensuring opportunities for children of Bulgarian origin to receive education in their mother tongue.

The discussion with the Serbian president also reviewed the bilateral political dialogue and practical cooperation between the two countries, including exchanged visits and trade relations. Connectivity and the provision of alternative energy supply routes were also among the topics addressed.

Vucic highlighted completed projects in transport, energy and culture, which contribute to strengthening the economic and social ties between Bulgaria and Serbia.

In an Instagram post, Vucic expressed his belief that cooperation will continue to grow stronger, and wished the ambassador great success in his future work wherever he may be, and to remain a true friend of Serbia.
