site.btaTurkish Police Detain 27 After Two Officers Killed in Shooting


The number of people detained for the attack on a police station in Balcova, Izmir Province, in which two police officers were killed, and two other officers and three civilians were injured on Sunday, has risen to 27, Turkish state television TRT Haber reported. They were detained in an operation conducted by the Izmir District Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Directorate.
The prosecution service's investigation is ongoing.
Among those detained is a 16-year-old boy, who is the main suspect in the shooting, as well as his parents, two of his friends, an Iranian national living in Istanbul, people from Ankara and Sanliurfa.
Ten people who allegedly made provocative posts on social media, as well as posts that led to misinformation about the case, have also been detained.
