site.btaCustoms Agency Detains Over 38,000 Fake Brand Goods at Kapitan Andreevo Checkpoint

A total of 38,570 textile products, sports shoes and slippers, perfumes and bags with trademark labels were detained by the customs officers at checkpoint Kapitan Andreevo. The goods, which were seized on suspicion of infringing intellectual property rights, were found in the last two weeks of June during a total of six separate inspections of two trucks, two vans, one bus and one car, all entering the country from Turkiye.
The largest quantity of counterfeit goods was detected on June 16, when a tractor-trailer with Bulgarian registration arrived at the checkpoint. The driver, a Bulgarian citizen, presented regular documents for the groupage goods transported from Turkiye to Bulgaria. The truck was selected for a thorough customs inspection, during which 13,187 textiles - T-shirts, shirts, trousers, tracksuits, bearing the markings of world-famous brands - were found among the declared goods. Another 3,263 pairs of shoes, 430 hats, 612 bags and purses with symbols of famous brands were found.
In accordance with European Regulation 608/2013 on the protection of intellectual property, the goods were seized. The holders of the trademarks concerned will be notified of the cases.
