On Tuesday, the Council of Ministers appointed Velislava Panova as Bulgaria's Consul General in Toronto, Canada, the government information service reported. The consular district covers the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Manitoba, British Columbia, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as the three territories: Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

Canada is a priority foreign policy partner and trusted ally of Bulgaria, the Government said. Expanding and deepening bilateral relations with Canada remains a consistent foreign policy priority for Bulgaria. Steady efforts are being made to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with Canada in areas of key importance to Bulgaria, including trade and investment, energy, innovation, security and defence, climate change, education, science and technology, and culture.

The Consulate General of Bulgaria in Toronto plays a key role in the upward development of relations with Canada, working closely with the Canadian provinces to strengthen cooperation, expand ties with representatives and organizations of the Bulgarian community within the consular district, provide professional consular services and assist Bulgarian citizens.
