"During the night, the southern part of Odesa Oblast (Izmail, Bolhrad, and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts) was subjected to a massive drone attack. Damage was reported to energy, port, transport, industrial, and residential infrastructure in the affected areas," announced Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, on Telegram.
As a result of the strikes, in one of the districts, a civilian cargo ship and a warehouse were damaged. The roof of a two-story residential building caught fire, and a garage was damaged; the fires were quickly extinguished by rescuers, according to the statement.
In another district, the attack damaged the windows and roofs of 122 private houses, as well as the windows of three additional multi-story residential buildings, Kiper said.
"Power outages are being reported in the affected areas. Critical infrastructure is being powered by generators. Temporary shelter points have been set up. So far, around 900 people have already sought assistance," the regional governor added.
According to him, rescue and emergency services are working on-site to address the aftermath of the attacks. Their work is complicated by continuous air raid alerts.
Bulgarians in Odesa Oblast number over 150,000, making them the third-largest ethnic group according to the latest official census in Ukraine. In the city of Odesa itself, around 50–60,000 Bulgarians reside. The largest concentrated Bulgarian communities are located in the Bolhrad, Izmail, and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
