North Macedonia's Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski said that the attacker of Bekir Kadrieski had been identified and detained on Wednesday. Swift and efficient action was taken, witness statements were taken and the case was clarified, Spasovski added.

The Minister stressed that the Prosecution office has been informed and criminal charges will be filed after collecting all evidence.

The chairman of the association of Bulgarians "Shemeto" in Struga, Bekir Kadrieski, was insulted and physically attacked around noon on Tuesday. The Bulgarian Embassy in the Republic of North Macedonia and the Consulate General in Bitola are monitoring the case, while the Bitola consul from Bitola visited Struga on this occasion.

According to Sittel TV, judicial sources in Struga said that it was a case of disturbing public order with quarrelling and shouting. The assailant himself went to the police, where he said that he had not hit Kadrieski and that the two had scores to settle from earlier, Sitel added, citing police sources.

Bekir Kadrieski was released for home treatment on Wednesday. The hospital in Struga, where he was admitted, said that he had detailed examinations which showed that he had no serious injuries, Sittel reported. He was, however, highly anxious and was given sedatives.
