"Bulgaria has always been among the most active and consistent supporters of Montenegro's European integration," Bulgarian caretaker Prime Minister Galab Donev told Saturday newly elected President of Montenegro Jacov Milatovic. The two officials held talks after the swearing-in ceremony and the inauguration of Milatovic, which took place in the Parliament in the Montenegrin capital Podgorica, the government's press service said.
Among those present at the official event were also Croatian President Zoran Milanović, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Albanian President Bajram Begaj and Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani. In his speech after being sworn in, Milatovic expressed his gratitude for the presence of his counterparts and government representatives from the region.
During the talks, Donev paid tribute to President Milatovic for his commitment to the country's strategic orientation and priorities, and for his declared aspiration for economic and social stabilization of Montenegro. "I assure you that we will continue to support initiatives and projects aimed at your strategic perspective - the successful integration into the EU," Donev told Milatovic. The Bulgarian Prime Minister pointed out that one of the practical dimensions of this support are the projects implemented under the Bulgarian official development assistance, and the various formats of regional cooperation.
Donev and Milatovic expressed their commitment to ensure that in the future the excellent cooperation between Bulgaria and Montenegro will have a positive impact on the trade level between the two countries.
