Former prime minister Kiril Petkov has not expressed a desire to take part in the candidate lists of Continue the Change (CC) for the upcoming snap parliamentary elections, Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) Co-Floor Leader Nikolay Denkov told Bulgarian National Television on Monday.

“Kiril Petkov is in CC, we are in frequent contact with him, and he is a member of the National Council. He has not voiced a wish to be on the lists because he is also working on other projects,” Denkov said.

Asked about the future projects of CC-DB MP Lena Borislavova, who earlier in January announced that she will not run as a candidate in the next elections, Denkov said he has an idea what her new project will be, but she is the one who should answer such questions.

“We will invite people we trust,” Denkov commented in response to a question about the party’s civic electoral quota. “In the coming days we will prepare the coalition agreement and sign it as quickly as possible,” he added.

On Saturday, the National Council of CC gave a mandate to the party’s Executive Council to conclude a new coalition agreement with Democratic Bulgaria (DB) for joint participation in the upcoming snap parliamentary elections.

The agreement must be signed by January 31 under the following conditions: maintaining the ratio and distribution of members of the district election commissions and of the candidate lists from the October 2024 parliamentary elections, as well as not allowing the coalition to nominate as MP candidates persons expelled from any of the parties in the coalition. Another condition is the inclusion of active representatives of civil society and young people from the protest movements as candidates for MPs, CC Chair Assen Vassilev explained.
