Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic, who was admitted to hospital late Wednesday in an emergency, is in serious but stable condition, Serbian media reported on Thursday, citing Belgrade clinical centre.

Dacic was hospitalized in the pulmonology department and was intubated. He has developed bilateral pneumonia and suffers from diabetes and other underlying conditions, Serbian broadcaster Informer reported.

Kurir daily reported that Dr Spasoje Popovic of the clinical centre said that it was too early to make any predictions, noting that Dacic is on mechanical ventilation.

President Aleksandar Vucic said that according to doctors Dacic’s condition has improved, he has faith in him, and the direction is Kazakhstan to achieve great results for Serbia in a video posted on his Instagram profile from the plane en route to Kazakhstan for an official visit.

Before his departure, Vucic visited Dacic at the clinical centre.

The Serbian President also visited the hospital late Wednesday to receive information about the condition of 60-year-old Dacic, who is a leader of the Serbian Socialist Party and a coalition partner of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party.
