Bulgarian Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova-Chamova and Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares Bueno discussed the strong bilateral relations between their countries and reaffirmed their shared commitment to further deepening cooperation, Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

Petrova met with her Spanish counterpart on the sidelines of the annual Ministerial Council Meeting of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris.

The two ministers expressed readiness to expand cooperation in a number of areas of mutual interest, including defence, energy, high technologies and the digital sector.

Petrova and Albares Bueno underscored the importance of maintaining an active political dialogue and of joint efforts to promote economic and technological ties between the two countries.

On Wednesday, Petrova also met with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann in Paris. Bulgaria's membership in the OECD remains a key foreign policy priority of the new Bulgarian government, which is committed to completing the technical phase of the accession process as soon as possible, Petrova told Cormann.
