North Macedonia Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski met European Council President Antionio Costa, the Prime Minister said on his official Facebook profile on Tuesday. "We discussed our country’s European path, the importance of preserving European values, and the support we are receiving in the integration process. We exchanged experiences and ideas on how to accelerate our progress and how to create better opportunities for citizens. Such meetings are of great importance as they confirm our commitment to the European perspective and strengthen cooperation with European partners," Mickoski wrote.

For Radio Free Europe, the North Macedonia's  government press centre announced that during the visit of Mickoski and the government delegation accompanying him in Brussels, "several meetings in the field of the country’s foreign policy" will be held.

"The government’s already clear position will be reaffirmed with the aim of launching the negotiation process and making progress on the path to EU membership. The visit will also focus on the European reform portfolio that we must implement by the end of this year and the beginning of next," the government said in its response, without providing further details about the Prime Minister’s programme in Brussels, the media outlet reported.

Radio Free Europe added that, according to a report by the European news channel Euronews, Mickoski will also attend the first Enlargement Summit, organised by Euronews, which will take place on Tuesday. The summit will be opened by European Council President Antonio Costa and will also be attended by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.

On Tuesday, the European Commission presented its annual progress reports on EU accession for the candidate countries, including North Macedonia.
