Velichie leader Ivelin Mihaylov said Thursday that his party rejects the actions of eight MPs from Velichie parliamentary group who registered for work in the National Assembly, adding that the MPs acted against party instructions and will be held accountable for their decisions.
The registration was described as motivated by financial gain, which Mihaylov called inappropriate and damaging to the party’s reputation and the efforts of members who work daily to uphold fairness. Velichie's leader emphasized that the party entered the Parliament committed to a higher ethical standard and that accepting any payment without completing their work would be unjustified.
Mihaylov highlighted that on Sunday in Pazardzhik, many supporters took a stand against intimidation, and the registration of the 8 MPs undermined that effort. He pointed out that the MPs failed to follow instructions and cannot be associated with Velichie. They must take responsibility to the voters and find a way to apologize.
The National Assembly has not convened for a second consecutive day due to lack of quorum. On Thursday morning, 71 MPs registered in the plenary hall, short of the 121 required. Registration included 29 MPs from Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria, nine from BSP - United Left, 14 from the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (ARF), 11 from Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh), and 8 from Velichie.
