Following severe flooding in Bulgaria’s coastal region of Burgas, Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev stated on Friday that the Government's current priority is saving human lives. His comments came in response to questions about potential compensation for affected residents.
Earlier in the day, the Municipality of Burgas declared a partial state of emergency due to the disaster. A state of emergency was declared in the coastal Municipality of Tsarevo.
Donchev said the state will provide all possible support as required by law. One person has been confirmed dead in the resort area of Elenite, according to Deputy Interior Minister Toni Todorov.
