Deputy Minister of Tourism Pavlin Petrov Tuesday told the "Bulgarian crafts - traditions meet the future" international conference that craftsmanship is the wealth of Bulgaria, passed down from generation to generation. “It is our cultural map for the future development not only of culture but also of tourism,” he added. The is organized by the Bulgarian Patent Office in cooperation with the European Commission (EC) and the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
The conference is part of the EC's EU Capital Tour and the Patent Office's information campaign on the new registration regime for Geographical Indications for Craft and Industrial Products, such as Bulgarian sgraffito ceramics, carpets, etc., whose registration is being transferred from national to EU level.
Deputy Minister Petrov noted that the connection between culture and tourism makes Bulgaria recognizable, generates more jobs in the regions, and promotes the country globally. “Through culture, we offer new tourist routes and experiences that cannot be found anywhere else. That is why the development of cultural tourism is key to promoting our country and upgrading the Bulgarian tourism product,” he said.
