Democracy, Rights and Freedoms gathered for a meeting at the capital's Central Hotel following the announcement that Dzhevdet Chakarov had resigned as Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Chair on Tuesday. “Everybody should know that this is a personal act,” MP Ramadan Atalay commented on the news of Dzhevdet Chakarov's resignation.

He added that Chakarov's actions did not mean that the two factions of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms had united.

Earlier on Tuesday, MRF – New Beginning said in a press release that Delyan Peevski, MRF Chair and MRF - New Beginning Floor Leader, has conferred with Chakarov. "The two leaders held a deep and constructive conversation, during which they agreed that the chapter of division and confrontation that has marked the past months must be closed. Both emphasized that the people, and resolving their problems, must remain the central objective of every political party and formation. As such, MRF must emerge united and stronger than ever from this crisis. [...] To make this possible, Chakarov is stepping down as MRF Chair," the press release further said.
