Bulgaria's Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT) has made a historical breakthrough with 16 articles accepted for the Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), the most cited forum for AI and computer vision in the world. This success is unprecedented for Bulgaria in this field and places Bulgaria in Europe's top ten, the Ministry of Education and Science said on Tuesday.

Bulgaria has more articles in total than all countries in Eastern Europe combined. INSAIT is ahead of every single university in countries such as Israel, the Netherlands, Finland, Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Norway, Sweden, Spain, and Italy, among others, the Ministry said further.

Through INSAIT with the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, Bulgarian scientists for the first time in 40 years publish articles for CVPR, which is the top forum on AI in the world as well as the fourth most prestigious scientific forum along with Nature, The New England Journal of Medicine, and Science.

INSAIT's articles are in six strategic fields: Generative AI, AI motion caption, AI that understands video, photos, and text simultaneously, autonomous driving, quantum computing for AI, and end-device AI.

This year's edition of CVPR will take place in Seattle, USA, from June 17 to 21.
