Due to the fires, tourists hiking in the mountains and mountain resorts should be particularly careful, said the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) of the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC).

Mountain rescuers are appealing to the public to follow the recommendations of the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection in connection with the raging fires. Tourists should be careful and responsible in their behavior, as the wind is currently changing direction sharply.

People should be careful in their behavior in the wild, as careless behavior is a serious factor in the outbreak of fires, the MRS stressed.

Mountain rescuers urge travelers in the country not to throw cigarette butts out of car windows and warn tourists to be prepared with sufficient water and sun protection, to choose and plan their routes carefully, and not to set off on unfamiliar trails. Getting lost in the mountains can lead to people running out of water and overheating, warned the MRS.

Over the past 24 hours, mountain rescuers have helped an exhausted tourist near Chepelare and responded to a number of reports of lost people, some of whom were guided by telephone. Rescue operations to search for tourists took place in Pirin and Vitosha over the past 24 hours.

The weather in the mountains on Monday is clear and warm, said the MRS.
