site.btaCulture Ministry Using Bulgarian News Agency's LIK Typeface in Its Official Correspondence
The Culture Ministry now uses the Bulgarian News Agency's LIK typeface in its official correspondence. The Ministry's latest press releases sent via email and the attachments to the emails mention the use of the custom-made typeface, which the Culture Ministry obtained from BTA earlier in July.
At that time, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev noted that BTA was providing the typeface free of charge to all public institutions interested in it. LIK has already been obtained by the National Institute of Justice, the Diplomatic Institute and the State Institute for Culture with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the University of National and World Economy, and the Sts Cyril and Methodius National Library.
The LIK typeface was commissioned by BTA from the National Academy of Arts. Valchev recalled that the typeface was registered with the Patent Office. He noted that this is a typeface based entirely on Bulgarian roots, created in the year in which Bulgaria celebrates the 1170th anniversary of the first Bulgarian script – the Glagolitic alphabet.
Receiving the LIK typeface from the BTA Director General, Culture Minister Marian Bachev said: “In addition to the fact that this font is beautiful, we are pursuing a policy of supporting this type of written communication - to set a style and, if possible, to lead the way, as they say, so that others will accept this initiative.” The new website of the Ministry of Culture, which has not been updated for twenty years, will also use the LIK typeface, Minister Bachev said at the meeting.
