President Rumen Radev sent a condolence letter to President of the Swiss Confederation Guy Parmelin after a deadly fire at a restaurant in Crans-Montana, the President’s press secretariat said here Saturday.

In the letter, Radev expressed sympathy, on behalf of the Bulgarian people and in his own name, to the relatives of those who died and wished those injured in the incident a speedy recovery.

The fire killed about 40 people at a restaurant in the south-west Swiss Alps on New Year’s Eve. Around 115 others were injured, with 80 in critical condition. Most of those seriously injured were aged between 16 and 26, Reuters said.

Outgoing Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov Thursday expressed his condolences and wished the injured a speedy and full recovery on Thursday, and the Foreign Ministry said on Thursday there had been no reports of Bulgarians killed or injured in the incident.
