site.btaBulgarian Delegation Participates in IHRA Winter Plenary Session in Jerusalem

A Bulgarian delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Maria Anguelieva, who is the National Coordinator for Combating Antisemitism, took part in the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's winter plenary session in Jerusalem from December 14 to 18, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The delegation included representatives of the administration, academia, the Bulgarian Jewish community and non-governmental organizations. During the visit, the delegation visited Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center. Flowers were laid in memory of the Righteous Among the Nations diplomats at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The delegation also met with representatives of the local Bulgarian community.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day was marked in January with a discussion at the House of Europe in Sofia. It has been observed since 2006 by a resolution of the UN General Assembly of November 1, 2005.
