“It is high time for diplomacy, because this prolonged war is exhausting all parties involved and supporting it,” Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev said during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in response to a question about possible negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.

“For us, it is not important whether there will be one negotiator or a team of negotiators. What matters is that negotiations begin,” Radev said.

He added that Europe needed to strike a better balance between military, economic and diplomatic tools.

“We hope these negotiations will begin as soon as possible,” the Bulgarian prime minister said.

Radev arrived in Berlin leading a delegation that includes Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Investment and Industry Alexander Poulev and Minister of Foreign Affairs  Velislava Petrova.
