site.btaBulgaria Joins 12th European Night of Literature on September 27

For the twelfth consecutive year, the European initiative "Night of Literature" is taking place. The aim of the event, initiated by the Czech cultural centres around the world, is to introduce the public to contemporary European poetry and prose through readings of excerpts from famous personalities in unusual places for literature - "readers' nests".
Every 30 minutes, the same excerpt is read in the same reader's nest. The book excerpts are selected by the embassies and cultural institutes of the European countries, and the audience can make up their own itinerary according to their personal preferences for European languages, inspiring readers, or the unusual locations in which the event unfolds.
Night of Literature 2023 takes place simultaneously in Sofia, Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Dobrich, Kyustendil, Lovech, Montana, Pernik, Plovdiv, Ruse, Silistra, Smolyan, Stara Zagora and the village of Chavdar. Information on the selected books, where, who and what they will be reading is available at www.noshtnaliteraturata.com.
Sofia’s audience will get a chance to meet some of the translators of the books in the readers' nests, located in neat and surprising spaces around the Doctor's Garden and the National Assembly Square.
Night of Literature 2023 is held with the support of Sofia Municipality and is part of Sofia's Calendar of Cultural Events.
Media partners are AzCheta.com, Literaturen Vestnik, Bookmark. Partners of the event in Sofia are the Development and Integration Foundation and the Reading Sofia Foundation.
In 2023, the visual identity of the event is the work of artist Damyan Damyanov and the theme is "Books are our islands of normality".
