site.btaTurkish Authorities Foil Illegal Migrants' Attempt to Cross Over in Bulgaria in Dinghy

Turkish authorities have intercepted a group of 27 illegal migrants, including several children, in the region of Igneada, on the Black Sea coast. Gendarmerie teams undertook the operation after the authorities had been alerted, the regional command in Kirklareli said.

The group, already on board an inflatable dinghy at sea, was heading towards Bulgarian waters, when they were stopped by the Turkish Coast Guard at sunrise.

The group had prepared an outboard motor, 17 life jackets, pumps and 74 l of fuel, according to the Ihlas News Agency.

Four people have been detained on suspicions of organizing the illegal trafficking. The court has ordered their arrest and seizure of their two cars, considered to have been used to transport the illegal migrants.

The migrants were relocated to the migrant centre in Pehlivankoy.
